Everyone seems to have pictures at the top of their pages, and I don't know how you do it. It won't let you put HTML in that space, so... what is the mystery?
or am I missing something very obvious as usual? 
Oh darn just after I posted that I found out how to do it...
But I still don't know how to stop it having the 'tiled' effect. Maybe I just need to find a picture of exactly the right dimensions?

First design a header picture (optimum size is 780 pixels X 173 pixels or 20.6 cm by 4.58 cm).
Click on the tab 'My: Blogs' on the Welcome page then the 'Design' icon along side the blog you want to post a header.
In the 'Blog Design Wizard' click on button 3 'style'.
Where it says Header you will see Image. Browse for the image you have created and then press apply image.
Your picture will now be on the header of your page.
I agree with smart pants!!!..i was going to say smart arse but that would have been rude!!

must be marvellous to be the only member of the newbies group and get all the experts rushing in to help you.
but can you have a group of one?
maybe that's another question you could put to the group!
